Recently due to Covid-19 we were unable to open our museum for the year 2020. That meant no flea markets, no holiday boutique, and no visitors, which also meant virtually no donations. Keeping our historic museum maintained relies heavily on the money we accumulate through these events annually.
As a way to compensate, we announced an online auction. Unfortunately, it has come and gone. We are very sorry, if you missed it. We had an abundance of wonderful donated items stored away for the purpose of reselling thanks to our very generous visitors, friends, and staff members, as well as through various local estates. The auction helped us to acquire much needed funding for the ongoing maintenance of Sherwood House. Sadly, we did not raise as much as we need, but every little bit helps. The house, which is nearly three hundred years old, needs a new shingle roof, work on the clapboard siding, and interior restoration. We estimate the cost for repairs could be up to $150, 000. The auction sales only raised a small fraction of that amount. Perhaps, we can do it, again, someday.
The auction was held from May 15 to May 21, 2021. Arrangements were made for items to be picked up at Sherwood House on May 23. The link is still available for a limited time, if you'd like to see how the auction went. We are sorry, you can no longer purchase the items marked as sold. However, if you see something that did not have any bids, please feel free to contact us with an offer!
