Stockbridge Massacre (The Battle of Kingsbridge)

On Thursday, August 21, from 6-8 pm, we are co-hosting an in-person screening at Will Library of the documentary on “Stockbridge: The Kingsbridge Massacre”.
The Stockbridge Massacre, also known as the Battle of Kingsbridge, or the Battle of Van Cortlandt's Woods, was a tragic event during the American Revolutionary War that occurred on August 31, 1778, in what is now Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. A unit of Stockbridge-Munsee warriors, allied with the Continental Army, were ambushed by British forces, resulting in significant casualties.
