The Candlelight Tours & Holiday Boutique
Sunday, December 8, 2019, from 1 PM - 4:30 PM
Each year usually on the first Sunday of December, the Yonkers Historical Society holds its Candlelight Tour at Sherwood House to celebrate the holiday season. Admission is free and there is a Holiday Boutique in the Weed Caretaker's Cottage, where merchandise and refreshments are made available.
Sometimes, volunteers wear historic costumes and Christmas carols are sung. In the past, there have been book signings, sculptor exhibits, special guests, and other great experiences. Each year is different and fun for the whole family. Visitors are welcome to tour the second oldest house in Yonkers with friendly and knowledgeable volunteers as your guides.
Donations are most welcome and greatly appreciated. All donations go to the betterment and care of the museum and its ever aging structures and exhibits.

This year we will also have a special book signing event, added last minute. Volunteer and local author, Jason Medina, will be doing a book signing at the Caretaker's Cottage for his latest book, A Night at the Shanley Hotel, a ghost story about a haunted bed and breakfast in Napanoch, NY.
Jason, who is also a paranormal investigator, has done numerous investigations at the hotel, which have helped inspire him to write this book. |
Plus, don't forget to check out his other popular book, Ghosts and Legends of Yonkers. Presigned copies are available at the Holiday Boutique, also in the cottage!
Last year's Candlelight Tour was held on Sunday, December 9, 2018, from 1 PM - 4:30 PM, with our holiday boutique in the Weed Cottage. It was a great turn out with many volunteers on hand to help. Thank you to those, who were able to join us as volunteers and as guests. We hope to see you all next year!
